A P-trap is a vital component in plumbing systems, designed to prevent sewer gases from entering homes or buildings. It is typically installed under sinks and features a U-shaped bend in the pipe. This bend holds a small amount of water, which acts as a barrier to block unpleasant odors from the drainage system. In addition to trapping gases, P-traps also catch debris and small objects that may accidentally fall into the sink, preventing them from entering the main drainage line.
